In 1942 an unidentified aircraft appeared above Los Angeles setting off military fire into the air. The country was at war, and the people were on edge. This is what inspired this film, Battle: Los Angeles. Despite its many alien film predecessors, what truly made this one unique was the militant point of view.
There is no other film about alien encounters like Battle: Los Angeles. Not only is the point of view unique, but the alien motivation for the Earth’s water source is also unique. Since water is the aliens’ primary source of fuel and Earth is the only planet in the galaxy with water in a liquid form, we became the ideal choice for the aliens to come and colonize the planet.
Genesis 1:6 -
“Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.”
Water is the source of life. It has sustained plants and animals on Earth since the Beginning. Even during the Creation, the waters existed before the dry land.
Every living thing needs water to survive, as do the aliens in Battle: LA. Two species engage in a life-or-death battle over the source of life. Thus, there comes a life threatening urgency to defeat the aliens, and the battle between the military and the aliens is understandable. Everyone knows the importance of water. That’s probably why it is illustrated so often in the Bible.
In John 4, Jesus teaches the woman at the well about his eternal salvation by calling it the living water. It is this living water that we as Christians continue to offer the people of the world. Eternal salvation is the greatest thing that the world has to offer. There is no need to take it by force, and it never depletes. Let us go forth and continue to offer living water. There are still so many who still need it.
