Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

The final numbers are in, and it is clear: Women ruled the box office in 2017. For the first time in nearly 60 years, the three highest-grossing films in North America all featured female leads.

There are so many women coming forward now with heartbreaking stories of being molested by alpha males in positions of power. Of course, the alpha males all pretty much deny it. At least George H. W. Bush owned up to his part, and as did Ben Affleck.

Men in power in most big businesses — Hollywood, Wall Street, politics, etc. — see themselves in a world where rules don’t apply.

Accusations swill around filmmaker James Toback, Fox host Bill O’Reilly, Journalist Mark Halperin, Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, actor Casey Affleck, actor Ben Affleck, former president George H. W. Bush, present Donald J. Trump, Fox Business anchor Charles Payne, Fox co-founder Roger Ailes, former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, Stanford student Brock Turner, comedian Bill Cosby, director Woody Allen, former Amazon executive Roy Price, technology evangelist Robert Scoble, Nickelodeon producer Chris Savino, Vox Media's editorial director Lockhart Steele, celebrity photographer Terry Richardson, creator of Screen Junkies Andy Signore, Fidelity stockpicker Gavin Baker, Celebrity chef John Besh and on and on!

FACT: For every 1,000 rape cases filed, only 13 are referred to a prosecutor, and only about half of that number result in convictions.

BIBLE: All humans were created in the image of God. Therefore, to violate anyone is to violate God.

HOPE: Perhaps with all the attention the issue is receiving and the women coming forward, America will once again find is moral center.... Maybe.

"Christmas creep" is alive and well. Many retailers, looking to get a jump on sales, introduce Christmas-themed merchandise long before the official start of the holiday season. in recent years, as the economic crisis forced some retailers to embrace more aggressive marketing strategies, the limits of the holiday shopping season were stretched thin.

1 John 4:18  says, "Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love." -NLT

Welcome to the Loser's Club.

IT  is a brilliant, masterful telling of Steven King's infamous novel. This film, both hysterical and terrifying, introduces each member of the Loser's Club as young teenagers. Each of them is the victims of bullying. Each of them is lonely and troubled. Each of them has a paralyzing fear.

As individuals, they are vulnerable to the worst kind of evil, a monster that feeds on children. They come together because of their mutual circumstances, which give them empathy for each other. As a unit, they are strong enough to stand up to their bullies, to their fears, and to the monster that preys on them.

Throughout their journey, each of them finds the strength to fight their personal fears, including the monster. They have love for each other, love for family, and love for their town. A burning love. A selfless love. An avenging love. They don't even hesitate to charge into the dark, dirty sewer for the ones they love.

As long as they stick together, the monster is far less likely to hurt them. Will they stick together? Will they be strong enough to defeat the monster? Or will they have to return for a second battle? Only time will tell.

It was a very sad weekend in America. Hate spilled out in Charlottesville. Hate divides. Hate is deadly. Hate is so wrong. At Christ In Culture we mourn the loss of three precious humans.

The Hollywood Reporter announced "The femme-centric superhero film has defied all expectations since debuting in early June. Wonder Woman muscled past the $400 million mark Tuesday at the domestic box office — an increasingly difficult feat for any film to achieve in North America."

In spite of this ABC News reports, "Women still account for less than a third of speaking roles in top US films. Female representation in the film industry has been high on the agenda lately, but the newest data out of the US and Australia shows progress is moving slowly, if at all."
