Passion and courage. Wow! What a combination.
REVIEW
Passion and courage. Wow! What a combination.
One of the things that hit me in researching ‘300’ was how much Frank Miller reflects the very qualities of the Spartans. Imagine catching a noble vision as Frank did when he was a kid and bring it to fruition against all odds! He did just like the Spartans. When anyone allows passion to drive courage, ya’ better get out of the way. Thinks are destined to happen. 300 will over power a million. David will bring down Goliath.  Frank will bring his story to the screen.
Perhaps the ingredient that I need to stress here is ‘noble’. I am sure Hitler was driven by passion, but he was not noble. The Spartans were. The Apostle once wrote , “(fill) your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.” (Philip 4:8) And then act with passion on those noble ideals and the world will be shaken.
SYNOPSIS
Based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, "300" is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy, drawing a line in the sand for democracy. The film brings Miller's (Sin City) acclaimed graphic novel to life by combining live action with virtual backgrounds that capture his distinct vision of this ancient historic tale.
