Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, "Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble." -NLT
The 1990 miniseries of Stephen King's It terrified adolescent me so much, I had nightmares for weeks. It tells the story of ancient, evil alien takes on the trustworthy form of a clown to terrorize and feed upon innocent children.
This thing has no boundaries, no mercy, and endless energy. Yet, the most terrifying part of this story is the hopelessness of the children's situation. They have no safe place. It could appear anywhere any time.
Until they find each other. Believe each other. Support each other. They become their own protection, because their unity threatens it.
Twenty-seven years later, an exciting remake will premiere on September 8.
After a thorough examination of the three available trailers, here are the following possibilities:
- The remake is much darker.
- In the remake the clown terrorizes the children much harder.
- The remake only covers the children's story-line.
- The remake has plot changes.
The clown takes the girl.
The boys go into the sewers to save her.
They may need to defeat the clown without her help.
These changes are both curious and exciting. I anticipate this film greatly for its uniqueness, the technological improvements, and the valuable lesson of unity. It promises to be a terrifying thrill-ride that will put my childhood nightmares to shame.
