WONDER WOMAN (2017) Movie Review
Ephesians 6:11 says, "Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil." -NLT
Wonder Woman is thus far the most exciting and influential film in the DC Comic franchise. Diana makes her first appearance in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, she remains a complete mystery throughout. The only information revealed is that she is much older than she looks and that she's "killed things from other worlds before."
Wonder Woman explains that mysterious statement by taking us back in time to this intriguing battle. The thing from another world is no alien. Instead, she battles a deity, both ancient and evil. A deity that incite war and devastation upon the human race. A deity that Diana feels a calling to destroy in order to save humanity.
Diana is both mysterious and powerful. Even more, she is passionate. She cares about the welfare of others. She knows her calling. She stops at nothing to fulfill it, even in spite of her mother's objections.
In order to understand the depth of her power, let us compare it to the Whole Armor of God as stated in Ephesians 6:10-18.
The Breastplate of Righteousness - Ephesians 6:14
The Belt of Truth - Ephesians 6:14
The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace - Ephesians 6:15
The Shield of Faith - Ephesians 6:16
The Helmet of Salvation - Ephesians 6:17
The Sword of the Spirit - Ephesians 6:17
These are fine, strong symbols, but they are physical symbols. Yet, the armor of God is found within His warriors, which is the strongest moral of this story. Diana's power comes from inside of her. Only when she discovers and accesses this power is she able to defeat evil and end the war.
Diana's mysterious origin is the key to her phenomenal power. These are few of her many virtues: selflessness, compassion, determination, honesty, and an unyielding belief. It is what makes her a strong warrior and an invaluable member of the Justice League.
